Figure it Out is a national juried exhibition organized by TAGAT120, a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the unbridled pursuit of creative expression. The theme asked artists to explore the many aspects that figures can demonstrate; beauty, brilliance, puzzles or awareness of our changing world, representing forms that are recognizably derived from life.

Cimabue, Maestà di Santa Trinita

Geoffrey Keillor, Terminales

“Terminales” shows a young woman sitting on her suitcase with her bus tickets in front of public telephone at a bus terminal in Central America.
The form of the work reflects the composition of Cimabue’s “Maesta di Santa Trinita.”
The young woman’s clothing is blue and red; the iconic colors of the Blessed Virgin May in art.
The “Telefono” sign suggest the shape of a halo.

Master of Greve, Virgin and Child enthroned

Geoffrey Keillor, Christmas

Christmas” shows a young man, Donello, walking through the streets of Casco Viejo, Panamá selling roses.
As the young man passes in front of a door arch, he and his roses are transformed into the "Virgin and Child enthroned"
The work is based on my encounter with Donello on the morning of 25 December, 2019.

Our Lady of Guadalupe

Geoffrey Keillor, Paz + Movil

“Paz + Movil” depicts a nun who at first appears to be praying the rosary, but is actually looking at her cell phone.
The nun is surrounded by red & yellow forms reminiscent of the luminous light on the image of “Our Lady of Guadalupe.”
The blue background represents one of the traditional colors of the Blessed Virgin Mary in art.
The stars in the blue background are arranged similarly to the constellations of the winter solstice before the dawn on the morning of 12 December, 1531; when Juan Diego saw a vision of “Our Lady of Guadalupe.”
